Towards a Provably Secure DoS-Resilient Key Exchange Protocol with Perfect Forward Secrecy
نویسندگان
چکیده
Just Fast Keying (JFK) is a simple, efficient and secure key exchange protocol proposed by Aiello et al. (ACM TISSEC, 2004). JFK is well known for its novel design features, notably its resistance to denialof-service (DoS) attacks. Using Meadows’ cost-based framework, we identify a new DoS vulnerability in JFK. The JFK protocol is claimed secure in the Canetti-Krawczyk model under the Decisional Diffie-Hellman (DDH) assumption. We show that security of the JFK protocol, when reusing ephemeral Diffie-Hellman keys, appears to require the Gap DiffieHellman (GDH) assumption in the random oracle model. We propose a new variant of JFK that avoids the identified DoS vulnerability and provides perfect forward secrecy even under the DDH assumption, achieving the full security promised by the JFK protocol.

Efficient, DoS-Resistant, Secure Key Exchange for Internet Protocols∗
We describe JFK, a new key exchange protocol, primarily designed for use in the IP Security Architecture. It is simple, efficient, and secure; we sketch a proof of the latter property. JFK also has a number of novel engineering parameters that permit a variety of trade-offs, most notably the ability to balance the need for perfect forward secrecy against susceptibility to denial-of-service atta...

The article proposes a provably secure authenticated multiple key establishment protocol for Wireless Sensor Network. Security of the protocol is based on the computational infeasiblity of solving Elliptic Curve Discrete Logarithm Problem and Computational Diffie-Hellman Problem on Bilinear Pairing. User authentication is a one of the most challenging security requirement in wireless sensor net...

Recently, LaMacchia, Lauter and Mityagin proposed the extended Canetti-Krawczyk (eCK) model for Authenticated Key Exchange (AKE) protocols that covers many attacks on existing models. An ID-based AKE protocol with Perfect Forward Secrecy (PFS) (respectively Master Perfect Forward Secrecy (MPFS)) ensures that revelation of the static keys of the parties (respectively the master secret key of the...
متن کاملOne-round Strongly Secure Key Exchange with Perfect Forward Secrecy and Deniability
Traditionally, secure one-round key exchange protocols in the PKI setting have either achieved perfect forward secrecy, or forms of deniability, but not both. On the one hand, achieving perfect forward secrecy against active attackers seems to require some form of authentication of the messages, as in signed Diffie-Hellman style protocols, that subsequently sacrifice deniability. On the other h...

a r t i c l e i n f o a b s t r a c t Identity-based authenticated key exchange (IBAKE) protocol is one of the most important cryptographic primitives that enables two parties using their identities to establish their common secret keys without sending and verifying public key certificates. Recently, many works have been dedicated to design efficient and secure IBAKE protocols without bilinear ...
